An Austrian businessman has lost his legal case in which he defended his right to produce sweets called Styriagra. The sweets were blue and similar in shape to Viagra tablets An Austrian businessman has lost his legal case in which he defended his right to produce sweets called Styriagra. The sweets which were blue in colour looked similar to tablets of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra which led to Pfizer deciding to seek legal redress.
Mr. Richard Mandl claims however that the name Styriagra was a completely innocent invention which was concocted by adding the name of the province where he lives, Styria with the word ‘agrarian’. This story could have been sort of believable except that the sweets were blue and similar in shape to Viagra tablets which therefore ruled out any sort of coincidence.
The Court of Appeal in Vienna therefore ruled that Mr. Richard Mandl had deliberately set out to infringe on the patent rights of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra and therefore banned the production of the Styriagra sweets.
Pfizer have had a lot of problem with their erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in that many companies have tried to cash in on the famed sexual potency that the drug produces in men. Pfizer however have tried to make sure that the drug is not turned into some sort of joke and that it is understood to be an extremely effective medication for an extremely serious medical problem that millions of men around the world suffer from.
